Tony Scott Directing Adaptation of Mark Millar’s ‘Nemesis’

Tony Scott Mark Millar Nemesis

Mark Millar may be his own biggest fan, but there’s no denying that Hollywood has developed a lucrative interest in him over the last few years. The latest title from Millar’s catalog to get the big-screen treatment is Nemesis - a comic book with the intriguing tag line: “What if Batman was the Joker?”

Here’s another intriguing tag line: “directed by Tony Scott.”

It’s been six month since we first heard talk of a Nemesis adaptation. Now, Bleeding Cool reports that Tony Scott (Man on Fire) has signed on to direct Nemesis – with Deadline confirming the news.

For decades various writers have implied how many similarities Batman shares with his adversaries and how easily he…

Cheadle & Pinto Joining ‘Rise of the Apes?’

June 18th, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

Planet of the Apes prequel casting cheadle pinto

Just a few weeks ago, 20th Century Fox cast James Franco as the lead in their upcoming prequel Rise of the Apes and the studio is now looking to bring two other significant names onboard – namely acclaimed performers Don Cheadle and Freida Pinto.

A prequel to the original 1968 Planet of the Apes film, Rise of the Apes revolves around a modern-day scientist (Franco) who conducts genetic experiments on a chimp he dubs Caesar, in the hopes of developing a cure for Alzheimers.  Caesar begins to develop human-like intelligence and leads a rebellion against his captors (which happened before in the 1972 sequel Conquest of the Planet of the Apes) that eventually results in a world dominated by apes.

Brit Rupert Wyatt was officially confirmed as the film’s director last month and will work from a screenplay that was restructured by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver following the fallout between original Rise of the Apes director Scott Frank and Fox Studio officials.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in Vancouver this July, with Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital (King Kong) set to bring the apes to life via CGI and motion-caputure animation, instead of makeup and prosthetics (which were used in all the previous Apes films).

Planet of the Apes prequel

Cheadle is an Oscar-nominated talent who is currently making waves in theaters as Lt. Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War Machine in Iron Man 2.  He’s always a welcome presence in my book – even when he’s doing his horrible Cockney accent from the Ocean’s 11 trilogy – so I’m all for Cheadle joining the new Apes film.

Pinto left a good impression on most moviegoers with her performance as Latika in Slumdog Millionaire and will hopefully continue her winning steak in this year’s Woody Allen flick You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger.  Presumedly, she and Cheadle will play human characters in the Apes prequel, since it sounds as though the apes will be primarily GGI creatures that are more realistic in design than those of the original Planet of the Apes (or even Tim Burton’s “re-imagining”).

So what do you think?  Do you like the idea of Cheadle and Pinto joining Rise of the Apes?  Let us know in the comments section below.

Rise of the Apes is scheduled to arrive in theaters in the U.S. on June 24th, 2011.

Hillcoat To Direct ‘The Revenant’ With Bale To Star?

May 26th, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

The Revenant movie based on Michael Punke's novel

Director John Hillcoat’s critically-acclaimed adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer-Prize winning novel The Road was all but ignored during last year’s awards season (you can read Screen Rant’s own positive review HERE).  Fans of Hillcoat’s post-apocalyptic flick will be glad to hear that the director may now be set to direct another intense drama, an adaptation of The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge.

According to screenwriter Mark L. Smith (Vacancy), Hillcoat is attached to direct his script for The Revenant, which is based off Michael Punke’s novel of the same name.  In addition, Smith has informed Bloody Disgusting that Christian Bale (heard of him? ;-) ) is currently in negotiations to star in the film as Hugh Glass, an 1820s frontiersman who hunts down the men that left him for dead after he was attacked and mauled by a bear.

The protagonist at the focus of The Revenant’s narrative – a physically battered man obsessed with surviving the harsh wilderness around him – bears more than a passing resemblance to Viggo Mortensen’s Man in Hillcoat’s version of The Road.  Hillcoat has also directed the tale of a vengeance quest set against the wild frontier before, in his 2005 Australia-set flick The Proposition. Revenant sounds like an excellent fit for the director’s dark, intense approach to storytelling.

Guy Pierce in ‘The Proposition.’

According to CHUD, director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) was at one point set to direct a film adaptation of The Revenant with Samuel L. Jackson playing the role of Hugh Glass.  Hillcoat’s sensibilities as a filmmaker seem a better fit for the revenge story than Chan-wook’s – though the latter’s gritty, violent tendencies as a director would’ve been interesting to see in a western setting. Here’s hoping the project actually comes to fruition this time around.

How likely is it that Hillcoat will get to make The Revenant with Bale onboard?  Well, Bale’s schedule is not too crowded at the moment and – with the obvious exception of Batman 3 – he isn’t set to appear in any big-budget films that would take priority over this project anytime soon.  If he does sign on for Hillcoat’s thriller, it would be Bale’s second venture into the western genre after his previous turn in the 3:10 to Yuma remake from director James Mangold (Knight and Day) back in 2007.

So what do you think?  Does The Revenant sound more interesting with Hillcoat directing and Bale possibly starring?  Sound off in the comments section below.

Eddie Murphy Writing Nutty Professor 3

May 22nd, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

Eddie Murphy: "We kind of wrote something that might be kind of funny" for Nutty Professor 3

Eddie Murphy has had one of the most fascinating careers of any actor in Hollywood. Since becoming one of the biggest and most bankable actors in the world back in the 1980s, his films have seen a steady drop in quality up until present day.

Box office bombs like The Adventure of Pluto Nash and throwaway films like Imagine ThatMeet Dave, and Norbit haven’t done much to recapture the interest of fans of Murphy’s old style of comedy, and now it seems the actor is willing to cash in on fond memories in order to regain some favor in the public eye.

At the Shrek Forever After premiere in Los Angeles, Murphy revealed to Access Hollywood that he’s been working on a script for The Nutty Professor 3.

The problem is, even Murphy himself doesn’t sound convinced that another sequel is a good idea. Let’s play a little game called “Count the Qualifying Statements in This Quote.”

“You know what? There might be another ‘Nutty Professor.’ We kind of wrote something that might be kind of funny. If the studios want to do it, we’ll do it. If you don’t see it, the studio was like, ‘This isn’t funny.’”

To be fair, the quote from Access Hollywood comes from a written story and not a video, so we can’t actually hear the passion (or lack thereof) in Murphy’s voice as he reveals this information. I know it’s the popular thing to rip on Eddie Murphy these days, but he can’t expect people to get excited about his work when even he can’t seem to muster up enough confidence about the project to convince anyone else that it’s a worthy cause.

If you’ve been paying attention to Hollywood news over the past five years, you’re well aware that remakes and sequels are the name of the game. Since Nutty Professor 3 is technically an amalgamation of both, it’s easy to see why studios might be interested in taking advantage of any good will Murphy might have left in the eyes of his fans. He isn’t the bankable star he used to be, but his Nutty Professor series made a lot of money during its theatrical run; the 1996 film made $273 million worldwide, and The Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps pulled in $161 million back in 2000.

I’ll toss it to you, readers. Are you interested in seeing Eddie Murphy reprise his role(s) in another Nutty Professor sequel? Will this project ever see the inside of your local movie theater?

New ‘Inception’ Extended TV Spot

May 22nd, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

Inception 60-second TV spot

If you’re not already sold on Inception, the upcoming mind-bending thriller from writer/director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight), then you’re probably never going to be (that and you’re crazy! :P ).

However, if you are looking forward to Inception but want more than the terrific third trailer and the recent trio of TV spots to further your excitement, then look no further as we have a brand new minute-long TV spot for the movie.

Like the last set of TV spots, there’s nothing really new to see but it still does a good job of selling the movie in the best way possible.

Take a look at the new UK Inception TV spot below which debuted over on the film’s YouTube channel:

I really hope Warner Bros. has gone as far as it’s going to with giving away the plot of Inception. The trailers and TV spots have done a great job of giving us a feel for what the movie is about without giving away TOO much info. I pray the studio doesn’t feel the need to release any spoiler-ish ads just to make sure the general movie audience understands what they’re getting themselves into.

With a movie like this, mystery is absolutely key.

In case you missed it or just want reminding, here’s the official synopsis for Inception that was unveiled a couple of weeks ago:

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.

Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible—inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime.

The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy and Tom Berenger. It’s both written and directed by Christopher Nolan.

The Avengers Movie Villains Are The Skrulls?

May 21st, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

The Avengers Movie Villains are the Skrulls

Who on Earth is mighty enough to stand up to The Avengers? A big question for fans of the Marvel comics and movies is what villain(s) will be featured in The Avengers movie who can act as worthy opponents to Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk. What if I were to say the answer to that question were “no one,” because no one from Earth will be fighting our favorite superheroes?

Instead, we just might be seeing The Avengers battling it out against aliens! If you’re a comic reader, you’re likely very well aware of the Skrulls, the green long-eared shapeshifters who were the focus of the recent Invasion crossover event in the Marvel universe. According to an “insider” of Comic Book Movie, The Skrulls will be the primary villains of Joss Whedon’s team-up epic.

Joining the Skrulls in this rumored plot information would be the Kree, another alien species who ally with the good guys (us measily humans and our super-heroic friends) against the Skrulls. Tying that rumor into the news of Kevin Pennington signing a 3-picture deal with Marvel Studios, one of the characters he is rumored to play is a Kree.

Comparing this idea to what we know from the comics, the Skrulls have been a major player in recent years. And in the Ultimates series, where Marvel has been grabbing a lot of its ideas from for their films, the Skrulls were also the key villains, except presented in a more believable way and I can see them adapting that into The Avengers franchise.

Joss Whedon struck a chord with Marvel fans with his successful and critically acclaimed 25-issue run on Astonishing X-Men, where he told a story involving aliens who wanted to destroy our planet. This is not new to him and if this rumor has any truth to it, then Whedon’s work no doubt secured him the job of handing The Avengers for Marvel.

With Whedon’s history and the Skrulls playing a major role in the books, this might not be too off the mark. Again, this is a completely unverified rumor and the script is currently being re-worked with Whedon coming on board. He’s also reportedly re-working the script for The First Avenger: Captain America to ensure the interconnected share movie universe correctly flows into The Avengers and Marvel’s plans going forward.

As with most recent Marvel Studios rumors, we can expect some official details and major updates come San Diego International Comic-Con in July where we’ll be reporting every detail live as it breaks.

Fox Says She Quit Transformers 3; Replacements Announced

May 21st, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

Megan Fox claims she left Transformers 3

The Megan Fox debacle continues to make headlines with constant updates, and now the Transformers star claims leaving Transformers 3 was her idea. As Fox’s representatives clean up the mess of her canceled role in Transformers 3, Michael Bay is already hunting for her replacement.

Three of the four names announced are swimsuit models. Go figure. Is this a film or a moving billboard?

Before we get into Fox’s potential replacement, her rebuttal to yesterday’s news continues to raise eyebrows. Of course, the reports have come straight from her representatives (a.k.a. the spin squad). Fox is still trying to dig out of her own grave, so she is too busy to speak for herself.

Fox’s agents told People Magazine it was the actress’ decision to leave Transformers 3. Any time representatives make generic statements like this, the facts are not exactly clear-cut. But you have to hand it to them, they got the last word – for now.

“Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3…It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best.”

Megan Fox left Transformers 3

Fox hiding from her problems?

Typically, when performers leave a production it is due to scheduling conflicts or creative differences. It is hard to forget the controversial head-butting between Fox and Bay before Transformers 2. But if they had a falling out, why was she even considered for the third film? She was already seen on set only weeks ago, but maybe the actress was simply bidding farewell to Bumblebee ;-) .

Of course, the Transformers franchise is not successful due to Fox. Rather, her career is successful because of Transformers. Her upcoming role in Jonah Hex doesn’t look like a big break into meaty acting opportunities, but at least she can rid herself of the Transformers shackles. Time will tell if this is good for her career or another nail in its coffin.

So, how do you replace one of the most beautiful cardboard cutouts in show business? Well, it looks like Bay’s initial reaction was to hire a swimsuit model. Or maybe he was just reading the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition when the studio asked him for names.

Transformers 3 Megan Fox replacements

On the short list of ladies is Bar Refaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker. Decker will actually begin her acting career in Just Go With It, releasing February 11th, 2011. Miranda Kerr has yet to cross over into film, but Bar Refaeli already has a big name attached to her resume. The girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio just finished her movie debut with Session, set for a September 5th release this year.

There is an actual actress at the top of the short replacement list. Gemma Arterton burst on the scene with an oil-covered corpse in Quantum of Solace. Since then, Arterton has made a name for herself in the action genre with recent roles in Clash of the Titans and the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Gemma Arterton Transformers 3 Quantum of Solace oil imageGemma Arterton’s memorable death scene from Quantum of Solace

Arterton would be a reasonable fit to replace Fox. The studio’s main focus will be to maintain the beauty of its leading lady. They should realize there are actually beautiful women in Hollywood who have more experience with acting (see Natalie Portman). But Michael Bay has a penchant for creating superstars, so don’t shrug off the swimsuit models. They fit the mold of beautiful newbies for Bay to unleash upon Hollywood.

What do you think about today’s updates? Do you believe Megan Fox chose to leave Transformers 3? Do the possible replacements strike fear in your hearts or are they a welcome change? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Transformers 3 will hit theaters on July 1, 2011.

New TV Spots For ‘The A-Team’ & ‘Jonah Hex’

May 21st, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

A-Team movie and Jonah Hex movie

20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. have each unleashed two new TV spots for their summer tentpole pics, The A-Team and Jonah Hex — all four of which were designed to make it clear to moviegoers that both films will have them up to their ears in explosive set pieces, over-the-top stunts, and occasional one-liners.

First, we have two new spots for The A-Team, which finds Liam Neeson (Clash of the Titans), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Sharlito Copley (District 9), and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (…) as a group of wrongly accused soldiers-turned-mercenaries on a quest to clear their names.

Flying tanks, explosions, machine gun fire, and Liam Neeson mugging shamelessly at the camera with a giant stogie in his mouth — you have to give The A-Team marketers credit for being honest about what moviegoers can expect from the film.

-

Here’s hoping the comment from Cooper about Jackson’s Mohawk at the end of both TV spots isn’t the funniest exchange The A-Team has to offer.

A-team movie

There are also two new TV spots for the comic book Western Jonah Hex — both of which offer more bits of Josh Brolin as the scarred hero in action, and less of the one-liners that dominated the official trailer.

Between Megan Fox’s robotic acting and the Wild Wild West vibe of modern weaponry-meets-old west action sequences, this new footage is neither impressive nor particularly unique.  Despite undergoing  significant reshoots back in February, Jonah Hex looks like a lackluster comic book flick at best.  That’s not exactly great news for Megan Fox, what with her being kicked out of not returning for Transformers 3.

Jonah Hex comic book movie

But what do you think?  Do these two action-packed films look like fun?  Sound off in the comments section below.

The A-Team will be out in theaters in the U.S. on June 11 while Jonah Hex will follow suit just a week later on June 18.

Smallville Season 10: Allison Mack Will Only Guest Star

May 21st, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

Smallville Season 10: Allison Mack Out; Will Guest Star

If the recent announcement of Smallville ending after next season wasn’t enough to bring a tear to the eye of fans, this surely will. Allison Mack, while speaking with Entertainment Weekly, revealed that while she has been a part of the show from the beginning, she will not be returning to the series for its tenth and final season.

This news will not only be a shock to fans, but also to Smallville producers. Two weeks ago, executive producer Brian Peterson said he was “very optimistic” that Mack would return as Chloe Sullivan – Smallville’s last original female cast-member.

You can read Mack’s statement below:

“It’s amazing to think that Chloe Sullivan and I have been one in the same for over a third of my life. I’m truly humbled by the love and loyalty of all the fans whose enthusiasm has carried me — along with a cast and crew which has become my second family — over the past 9 and a half years. Out of respect for the amazingly loyal fans and the place I will always have in my own heart for Chloe, I’m coming back for several episodes next season to tie up Chloe’s Smallville legacy properly.”

“It’s been a life-changing ride and I look forward to what lies ahead with the strength of a ‘superhero’ as my foundation.”

Wow! Just wow! This is a huge blow to Smallville as it enters its final season. I know that Chloe wasn’t a favorite of all fans, but I, along with many, thoroughly enjoyed her on the series as she, at times, became a driving force of the show and was one of the main reasons why I tuned it.

That being said, I’m sure some will argue that with Chloe missing from the Smallville universe, the series will be able to focus more on Clark’s transition into Superman and perhaps achieve that goal faster without the need to include Chloe’s “Watchtower’s satellites are down” -type storylines.

In my opinion, those people would be wrong…

Smallville Season 10: Allison Mack Out; Will Guest Star

What do you think of Allison Mack not returning to Smallville? Were you a fan of Chloe? How should they tie-up Chloe’s legacy?

The tenth and final season of Smallville returns this fall on The CW.

Upcoming Movie Release Dates Announced

May 20th, 2010 by lawwebbhh651109j87hN5gxp2l | Comments Off | Filed in Movie

Coming Soon Movie Release Dates

Several studios have announced a number of official release dates for in-development films set to debut over the next couple years. Surprisingly, only four of the 16  are sequels. In a time when it seems every other “new” movie is a sequel or reboot, that number is quite pleasing.

There are a few comedies, a honey-loving bear, a deadly virus, and plenty more hitting theaters between now and 2013. The next three years are full of some epic comic book adaptations and summer blockbusters. But not every film is geared for the geeks and fanboys.

For a quick rundown of the new release dates, here they are in list form. Below that, you’ll find more descriptive breakdowns of each.

Upcoming Movie Release Dates

The first weekend of 2011 presents quite the thriller. Unknown White Male stars Liam Neeson as a man who awakens from a coma and quickly discovers his identity has been stolen. But this is not just any case of identity theft. Nobody, not even his wife, believes him until a young woman helps his search. The film co-stars Diane Kruger and January Jones, along with Frank Langella. Unknown White Male releases January 7, 2011.

Anthony Hopkins will close out the first month of 2011 by teaching an up-and-coming priest a thing or two about exorcisms. The Rite, which releases January 28th, 2011, adapts the Matt Baglio novel of the same title. Apparently, the story is the true tale of a “disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces.” Sounds interesting enough, but a late January release date casts a shadow on its potential.

Anthony Hopkins Exorcist The Rite

The Farrelly Brothers are still looking for their next comedy hit. It’s been a long three years since The Heartbreak Kid, but the directors will hop back on the saddle with Hall Pass on February 25, 2011. The film has some mid-level star power in Owen Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Alyssa Milano, Christina Applegate, Jason Sudeikis and Richard Jenkins. The story follows a married man given an open invitation by his own wife to have an affair.

In March of 2010, Diary of a Wimpy Kid came out of nowhere with the intention of kick-starting a new film series based on a novel. While it quadrupled its $15 million production budget, the buzz was not as widespread as 20th Century Fox hoped. Regardless, the studio has given Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules a March 25, 2011 release date. The fifth novel by Jeff Kinney will be released this year, but the studio may catch up quickly if they continue to release one each year.

The Girl with the Red Riding Hood has been handed an April 22, 2011 release date. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will guide Amanda Seyfried through the woods in this adaptation of the classic tale. If the director’s history doesn’t worry you, the premise sure might. Orphan screenwriter David Johnson has written a script where the wandering girl gets caught in a love triangle amidst her other infamous problems.

Catherine Hardwicke - Red Riding Hood

If you’ve been desperately awaiting a Winnie the Pooh adaptation, Disney has given you a date to save. A mid-summer release on July 15th, 2011 will give the animated bear and his friends to a theatrical makeover. Renowned voice actor Jim Cummings (330 titles in 25 years) will voice both Pooh and Tigger, Peter Cullen (the voice of Optimus Prime in Transformers) will perform Eeyore and Craig Ferguson will voice the Owl.

Also releasing July 15th, 2011, The Sitter will put Jonah Hill in the middle of a babysitting adventure he’ll never forget. In an argument for typecasting, Hill has been cast as a suspended college student. The film is rumored as a mix between Adventures in Babysitting and Superbad.

Four Christmases director Seth Gordon will lead an A-list cast in the July 25th, 2011 comedy Horrible Bosses. Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Jason Bateman, Jamie Foxx and Charlie Day make up the cast of New Line’s hopeful summer hit. The plot reads, “Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness. If anything makes the film a worthy watch it is the presence of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Charlie Day.

Horrible Bosses cast

Although still in the script phase, Late Bloomer now has an August 12, 2011 release date. The film adapts Ken Baker’s novel Made: A Memoir and tells “the story of an adult male who, after the successful removal of a benign tumor resting his pituitary gland, experiences all the changes and effects of puberty over a three-week period.”

In mid-March, Warner Bros. announced the intent to make Final Destination 5, much to the dismay of movie fans. A once great concept has been dragged along the road far too long and the studio is hoping a 3D sequel will change that. The fifth installment continues to make progress with an announced release date of August 26th, 2011.

Dark Castle Entertainment has given The Apparition a September 9th, 2011 release date. It sounds a bit like a combination of the studio’s own upcoming film Splice and the indie hit Paranormal Activity. The synopsis says The Apparition is about “a couple haunted by a supernatural presence that is unleashed during a college experiment.”

Say what you will about Brendan Fraser’s acting career, but he’s still got a franchise or two up his sleeve. The actor returns in 3D on September 23rd, 2011 with Journey to the Center of the Earth 2. The world has only itself to blame after a nearly $250 million box office for Journey to the Center of the Earth.

One of my most anticipated films of next year is Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion. Now, with an official release date of October 21st, 2001, it sits in prime position for Oscar buzz. Talented writer Scott Z. Burns penned the script that will star Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Laurence Fishburne and Gwenyth Paltrow. The story explores the results of an international viral outbreak and the hysteria caused by mass media.

Contagion cast with Soderbergh

Valentine’s Day made half of its domestic box office on opening weekend, proving its gimmicky Valentine’s Day weekend release date to be a decent idea. The studio is attempting to recreate the relative success of the holiday ensemble piece with New Year’s Eve. The only difference is this “sequel” will release December 9th, 2011. The story structure remains the same, but the cast is still in the assembly phase.

20th Century Fox will release Cameron Crowe’s next project, We Bought A Zoo, on December 23rd, 2011. Production should begin this fall. 27 Dresses and The Devils Wears Prada writer Aline Brosh McKenna is penning the script. I’m not sure the connection between Crowe and McKenna, but it is safe to trust a filmmaker like Crowe.

Further down the road, Disney has announced Reboot Ralph will hit theaters March 22, 2013.  The film is apparently an animated adventure through the world of a video game. It was previously known as Joe Jump.

A scene from Journey to Center of the Earth 3D

Is that enough release dates for you? There’s plenty to add to your movie schedule, but not quite as entertaining a list as the next two summers. Still, movies are what we here at Screen Rant live for, so no complaints.

As usual, stay tuned for the latest movie news and release date updates. We’ll keep your movie ears burning.
